Wooden Boats are Big Business
at Timbergreen Farm

Wood from our forests has been used to build parts of many wooden boats.  White oak is the major species used.  A Belgian friend named Guy is now building a 38 foot long boat, using the shape of the curved white oak tree to form the shape of the keel.  Here is the 26" diameter tree felled by Mike Neta.  You can see the shape of the boat already!  This boat will be built from the outside = in.

The whole log was skidded from the forest to the farmyard using the FFP Fetching arch pulled by the forwarder.  The log is 44 feet long at this point.
